Manufacturer Warranties
Every pair of shears from JapanShears.com.au comes with the manufacturer’s warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Warranty periods vary by brand — from 6 months to lifetime coverage.

What’s Covered
- Manufacturing defects in blade or handle construction
- Faulty pivot mechanisms
- Premature blade degradation under normal professional use
- Loose components that weren’t caused by impact
What Voids the Warranty
- Dropping shears — impact damage is not a manufacturing defect
- DIY sharpening — convex edges require professional sharpening equipment
- Modifications — bending, adjusting, or altering the blade or handle
- Corrosion from neglect — failing to oil and store properly
- Unauthorised repairs — using non-approved repair services
Making a Warranty Claim
- Email contact@japanshears.com.au with your order number, photos of the issue, and a description of the problem
- We’ll assess the claim and respond within 2 business days
- If approved, we’ll provide return shipping instructions
- Replacement or repair is processed once we receive the shears
Professional Sharpening
Regular sharpening is not covered by warranty — it’s normal maintenance. We recommend professional sharpening every 3–6 months depending on your steel type and client volume.
