Barber Shears
Japanese shears built for barbering — longer blades, sword grinds and dry-cutting edges for scissor-over-comb.
More about Barber Shears
Barbering asks different things of a blade than salon work: reach for scissor-over-comb, a stiff body that won't flex on dry hair, and an edge that survives dry detailing. These are the Japanese shears I'd put on a barber's bench.
Frequently asked
What makes a shear good for barbering?
Length and stiffness. A 6.5–7.0" sword or barber blade gives reach over the comb and holds firm on dry, coarse hair, where a short detailing scissor would flex. Convex edges keep slice and dry-chip work clean.
Can I use these for salon work too?
Longer barber blades are less suited to fine, close detail. Many barbers keep a longer pair for over-comb and a 5.0–5.5" for detail. Our Shear Finder can match you to both.
