“The Jewel III is as much a statement piece as a working tool — the matte rose-gold titanium coating and anatomical finger rings make it one of the better-looking scissors in the cabinet, and Kamisori’s hand-honed 3D convex edge gives a smooth, slicing cut that suits slide work, soft layering and clean blunt lines on fine to medium hair. The asymmetric balance is the bit you feel: it sits forward in a way that rewards a light, precise grip. Where I temper the hype is the steel. Japanese 440C at 59HRC is good, dependable stainless, but it’s a notch softer than the VG10 and cobalt blades at this price, so you’re partly paying for the titanium finish, the craft and the lifetime warranty rather than pure edge-retention — expect to sharpen it a touch sooner than a 62HRC blade. That coating also wants care, since titanium colour shows wear at the contact points over years. A genuine plus is the true left-handed build, blades and rings reversed. For a stylist who wants a beautiful, comfortable precision scissor and values the craft and warranty, it’s worth it; if you only care about the hardest steel per dollar, look at the VG10 range.”
