The hand-honed convex edge is finished beautifully for the money, the ATS314 cobalt holds a long, reliable edge, and the offset handle with its removable finger rest and teardrop thumb holes sits comfortably through a full day. Across the size run it cuts a clean blunt baseline and slides happily for softer detailing.

The detail I like most is the spread of lengths: a 4.5 for tight detail right up to a 6 for broader work, so you can match the blade to your hand and your day. The coin-adjustable tension is easy to live with. The honest caveat is that this is a cutting scissor through and through — there’s no thinning option in the range, so you’ll need a separate texturiser to round out your kit.
