“The SL is Yasaka’s offset built around the good cobalt, and that’s its whole appeal — you get ATS314 cobalt steel and a clam-shaped convex edge that draws a long, smooth slice, in an offset handle that keeps the thumb relaxed across a busy column. For slide cutting and soft layering it has that quiet, effortless glide I associate with the maker, and the cobalt holds its edge far longer than the 440C in Yasaka’s cheaper SA and YA models.

A couple of things to plan around. The range is 5.5 and 6 inches only, so it’s a control and detailing scissor rather than a long scissor-over-comb tool — pair it with something longer if you need reach. It’s also a pre-order with a few weeks’ wait, so this is one to order ahead rather than grab on the day. The flat-L screw holds tension nicely. If you want Yasaka’s cobalt in a comfortable offset and don’t need a thinning option in the same family, the SL is a genuinely well-priced everyday cutter.”
