“This is the cutter from the matte-black set sold on its own, and it’s the one to grab when you want a cheap, dependable 6” blade that you won’t cry over. The convex edge falls through wet hair more cleanly than you’d expect at the price, handling blunt lines, layering and point work for everyday styling, and at 42g with a comfortable offset it’s an easy thing to pick up. The matte allergy-neutral coating is genuinely handy for sensitive skin and it hides the marks of a busy day.

Just don’t ask it to be a hero blade. 7CR at 55-57 HRC is cutting-grade steel, so the edge softens sooner than the cobalt in our Yasaka range and a fine slide-cut won’t stay glassy as long. I’d reach for it as a learner’s first cutter, a colour-room blade, or the backup pair that lives in your kit for the day your good scissors are away being serviced. For $109, that’s a fair ask.”
