“Kasho’s Design Master is a straight-handle classic, and the hollow semi-convex blade with its slice edge is built for one thing above all: drawing cuts. Slide cutting, soft graduation, channelling through length — the slice grind glides where a flat blunt edge would catch, and the VG-10W at 58-60HRC keeps that draw smooth for a good stretch between hones. For a stylist who works dry and texturises with the blade itself, it reads the hair nicely.

The straight handle is the honest caveat. It’s the traditional, square-on grip — no offset — so for long days of scissor-over-comb your thumb and wrist sit in a more closed posture than an ergonomic offset would allow; if hand fatigue is your enemy, factor that in or look at Kasho’s offset version. The raised ratchet tension holds well and is easy to fine-tune. At this price it’s a lot of genuine Kasho craft, and for precise slice-led cutting on a sound hand, it earns its place on the trolley.”
