Professional Opinion
“This is the straight-handle take on Kasho’s flagship, and it’s the one I’d hand a classically trained cutter who works palm-to-palm. The conventional handle keeps both thumbs square and gives that direct, old-school control for blunt baselines and precise scissor-over-comb, while the samurai sword upper blade slices with so little resistance the hair barely knows it’s been cut. The Disk Operation System keeps the tension dead even from the first section to the last — no creep, no rattle.
Where I temper the praise is the same place as its offset sibling: the SG2 powder steel is beautifully pure and holds an edge a long while, but it runs at the same 58-60HRC working hardness as Kasho’s far cheaper blades, so the premium is for the action and the geometry, not raw edge longevity. And the straight handle, lovely as it is for control, asks more of the wrist over a long day than an offset — if fatigue troubles you, look at the Millennium Offset instead. For a traditionalist who wants Kasho’s finest action in a square handle, it’s a heirloom-grade tool worth saving for.”
