Japanese hair shears for considered cutting choices

The ShearAlliance: which member for which job

Short answer

JapanShears is a member of the ShearAlliance, a group of retailers, brands and information websites that share an interest in Japanese shears. This page says who the members we point readers to are and when each is the right place to go.

If the question is which Japanese-maker model, hand, edge and size, stay here. If it is a different trade, a different country or the tool itself, one of the members below is a better first stop.

Reference: Scissorpedia

Scissorpedia is an information website, not a store. It is the place for background on scissors and shears themselves. When the question turns to a particular model, hand or size, our shear guides and listings pick up from there.

About the ShearAlliance

The ShearAlliance is an alliance whose members include retailers, brands and information websites such as Scissorpedia. Its own site, shearalliance.org, is offline for now and will be back shortly. It has other members besides the ones named here; this page lists only those we point readers to. Membership is not a rating or a test result for any product, and nothing on this page should be read as one.

Who runs which store

JapanShears, BarberScissors, SalonScissors, Japan Scissors and Scissor Hub (the Australian stores) are run by the same seller: Nippon Shears Pty Ltd ACN 641 863 578 acting as trustee for The Adams Scissor Trust ABN 68 501 252 754. Treat them as one seller with several storefronts, not as independent businesses. For the other members we say only that they are fellow ShearAlliance members. Read each store's own terms before you order. Our own are in the terms of sale, and how we write our guides explains how we handle sources.
