Flat teeth and open gaps
Joewell describes the HXG as a texture-adjustment shear with flat teeth and extended gaps. This listing offers 17- and 20-tooth options, both in the same nominal 5.9-inch size. The classic handle and Supreme Stainless Alloy stay consistent; the tooth pattern changes.
The 17-tooth option has fewer teeth across the blade than the 20-tooth version. Compare their actual pattern and the kind of texture you want to place, rather than assigning either one a fixed result on every section. Joewell’s HXG specifications describe the two models separately.
Keep the tooth choice and hand separate
The 20-tooth option is right-handed. The hand of the 17-tooth option needs confirmation: contact us if that is the model you want. A choice between tooth counts does not establish handedness.
Use a plain cutting shear for the main line, then place the HXG where a toothed cut serves the shape. Start with a light pass, comb out the cut hair and inspect the section before another closure. Clear the gaps and dry the tool after use.
For a comparison with denser tooth designs, read the thinning and texturising guide and the Joewell model map.
Protect the flat teeth and open gaps
Clear cut hair from the HXG’s gaps gently; avoid forcing another tool between the teeth. When asking about service, name the actual 17- or 20-tooth option and its 5.9-inch nominal size. A tooth count describes the pattern a technician needs to inspect, rather than a sharpening method to copy from a plain cutter.
The cleaning and storage guide covers thinner care. If a tooth looks damaged or the shear begins catching hair, set it aside and use the service preparation guide to record the affected area.
