Two lengths in the New Era family

New Era gives you a right-handed cutter with traditional symmetric rings in 5.0 or 5.5 inches. It uses the Standard JOEWELL Blade, Japanese stainless alloy, satin handles and polished blades. This is one cutter, with its own compact size menu.

Standard is a construction term here. Joewell describes its standard blade as a flat single bevel in the maker’s blade reference. It is a different blade description from the Convex Shape construction in Classic PRO.

Start with the nominal size of a cutter you already use for the job. Compare the complete ring layout and where you can place its tips; the inch label alone does not measure the cutting blade.

Another family at the same nominal size

The 5.5-inch Classic also uses Joewell’s Standard blade and opposing rings, but belongs to a separate model and a wider 4.5–7.0-inch menu. The 5.5-inch Classic PRO changes the named blade construction to Convex Shape.

Add the thinner only when you need it

The New Era pair with a 5.5-inch cutter and E-30 adds a separate 5.6-inch thinner. The pair’s tooth selection does not change this cutter into another New Era blade.
