Choose the extra thumb movement

The Kawa swivel cutter adds a separate rotating thumb ring to the Z-Balance offset layout. Its right-handed choices are 5.5, 6.0 and 6.5 inches. All list a convex edge, 440C steel and a satin-brushed finish.

The main blade joint still opens and closes the cutting blades. The swivel gives the thumb another movement at the handle. Ichiro’s handle reference explains that distinction; it does not make the extra movement a better fit for every hand.

Keep the comparison within the family

At six inches, the fixed Kawa cutter has the same listed steel, edge and finish. That keeps the comparison focused on the thumb arrangement rather than changing several unrelated specifications at once.

Buy this single when the rotating-thumb cutter is the tool you need. Keep the blades clean and dry, and ask for model-specific guidance before adjusting or lubricating the thumb mechanism. A blade-tension adjustment and a thumb-joint adjustment are separate matters.
