“This is the Ichiro set I’d actually point a working stylist toward, because the steel is the real upgrade. VG-10 at 60-62HRC is a different animal to the brand’s 440C lines — it takes a finer convex edge and holds it through far more cutting before you notice any drag, which is what you’re paying the premium for. The cutter glides on slide work and gives me a clean blunt line, and the Tejina tension screw stays where I set it rather than creeping loose mid-client.

The pairing is a cutter from 5.5” up to 7.0” with a fixed 6.0” texturiser, and the 15-tooth blade is firmly a chunking and movement tool — coarse enough to remove real weight, so it’s not your seamless fine-blend finisher. The honest caveats: VG-10 is harder and a little less forgiving if you drop or chip it, it wants proper drying and oiling, and it’s right-hand only. For a stylist who cuts daily on a mix of hair and wants one set to handle both line and texture for years, this is the one in the Ichiro range I’d back.”
