Professional Opinion
“The Dry W’s party trick is the handle. The Hennessy crane design drops your hand into a steeply angled, near-horizontal cutting line, and for the stylist who does a lot of dry slide and stroke work that posture is genuinely kinder on the shoulder and elbow than a standard offset — if you’ve ever finished a day of dry detailing with a tight forearm, you’ll feel the difference. Unlike its bamboo-leaf sibling, this one runs a clam-shaped convex edge in the same ATS314 cobalt, which I’d argue makes it the more flexible of the two: it’ll still cut clean wet as well as dry, so it works harder as a single blade.
Two honest caveats. A crane handle is a particular feel, and if you’ve only ever cut offset it takes a few heads to trust it — try the posture before you commit. And at 5.5”–6.0” it’s a detailing and styling blade, not a scissor-over-comb tool. For a dry-cutting specialist who wants ergonomics built around the technique, though, it’s the pick of Yasaka’s dry range.”
