Description
Obsidian is a matched cutter and thinner. Both tools list VG10 steel at 60–62 HRC, a micro-channel MIKURO EDGE treatment, deep-offset handles and a matte black finish. The thinner has 30 V-shaped teeth.
The right-handed variants change the cutter from 5.5 to 6.0 or 6.5 inches; the thinner remains 6.0 inches in each set. Compare the cutter length by your section size and technique. The micro-channel edge is intended to give the blade more grip on hair; it is a feature to weigh alongside the handle and steel, not a substitute for them.
Wipe both tools after use, clear hair from the thinning teeth and oil the pivots as needed. The Juntetsu range includes cutters and sets with other edge and handle combinations.
