Choose the cutter length and the thinner separately

This pair contains one right-handed Joewell Classic cutter and one right-handed E-series thinner. Six cutter lengths—4.5, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 6.5 and 7.0 inches—each come with either E-30 or E-40. That gives the menu twelve combinations.

The Classic uses the Standard JOEWELL flat single bevel blade, traditional opposing rings, a precision flat screw and removable finger rest. Its construction is described on Joewell’s Classic page.

The thinner stays 5.6 inches

E-30 has 30 teeth and E-40 has 40; both are 5.6 inches. Choosing a longer cutter changes that component, rather than stretching the thinner to match it. Both E models have a symmetric handle and precision flat screw in the maker’s E-series reference.

For example, the 5.5-inch Classic with E-30 and 5.5-inch Classic with E-40 hold the cutter choice steady. Read the separate E-30 and E-40 pages for their model-specific tooth and removal statements. Count alone is not a universal removal scale.

Keep a good existing tool in the decision

Clear hair from both tools, including the thinner teeth, then dry and store them with their edges protected.
