Compare the cutter
The Obsidian cutter is a single right-handed shear in three whole-scissor lengths: 5.5”, 6.0” and 6.5”. The shorter option gives you less reach for detail; the longer option places more blade across a section. Choose by your cutting space and preferred hand position.
The model lists Takefu VG10 steel at 60–62 HRC, a convex MIKURO EDGE blade and a matte black coating. Its super-offset handle lowers the thumb ring below the finger ring. Those are separate choices: steel, edge, finish and grip each describe a different part of the tool.
The Obsidian thinner has 30 teeth, while the matched set combines both shears. Wipe this cutter dry, oil the pivot when needed and use a professional sharpener familiar with convex edges.
