- Dry-bearing system; Joewell states 80% cut ratio
A cut-and-thin construction
JGC-12 is Joewell’s 12-tooth Cut & Thinning model, rather than a fine volume-control thinner. The right-handed tool is nominally 6.2 inches, with an offset handle, flat teeth, Supreme Stainless Alloy and a dry-bearing screw system. Its finger rest is permanent.
The exact maker reference describes a combined cutting and texturising role and states an 80% cut ratio. That makes the intended comparison different from choosing a lighter-rate finishing tool. Read the model’s role alongside the figure instead of treating every toothed shear as interchangeable.
Twelve teeth is one field in the brief
Tooth count does not supply the whole construction. The shape of the teeth and the spaces between them matter, as does the opposing blade. The anatomy guide names those parts; Joewell’s model statement supplies the cut-rate figure.
For contrast, the SNT-40 is a separate 40-tooth volume-control design at 5.9 inches. Its small tip grooves and rate belong to that model. The ratio guide explains how to compare such statements without promising how much of a client’s section will be removed.
Ask what this tool would replace or add
If your brief calls for the main line from a continuous-blade cutter, keep that requirement clear. A combined cut-and-thin role still needs a reason in the planned cut. The selection guide separates line, blending and texture questions.
An educator can help assess the model through a supervised observation brief. Avoid transferring the placement or sequence from a familiar finishing thinner just because both tools have teeth. The fit guide helps compare its nominal reach and handle against the tool you know.
Keep cut hair out of the tooth line, dry the blades and protect the tips in storage. Follow the exact dry-bearing care instructions, and identify JGC-12 when arranging professional attention.
