Compare the Amethyst cutter
Amethyst is a single right-handed cutter in 5.5”, 6.0” and 6.5” whole-scissor lengths. Its listed material is 440C steel at 59–60 HRC, with a convex cutting edge and mirror-polished blade. The purple floral finish and gem-style tension wheel distinguish its appearance.
The handle is a classic opposed layout: the finger and thumb rings sit more evenly than on an offset shear. Length and handle are the practical comparisons. Choose 5.5” for tighter work, 6.0” as a middle size or 6.5” for more reach across a section.
The tension wheel adjusts blade feel. Keep the blades dry, oil the pivot as needed and use professional sharpening when the edge begins to drag.
